Mount Snejanka


Âðúõ Ñíåæàíêà

Mount Snejanka (Snow White) is 1926 meters high. It is built on top of a television tower, which is 156 meters high. The climate is mild and it is mostly sunny. On top of the tower there is a restaurant with a panoramic view of Smolyan and Pamporovo. The peak is part of the 100 national tourist sites in Bulgaria.

Smolyan Lakes

Smolyan lakes are located on the left slope of the valley of Cherna reka (Black River) from Orpheus rocks and Mount Snejanka in Smolyan. In the past there were more than 20 lakes, but now there are only 8 left - 7 of them are natural and Keryanov pond was converted into a dam. The remaining lakes today are swamps.

The Devil's Throat cave

The cave "Dyavolsko garlo’" (Devil`s Throat) got its name because the rocks around the cave's entrance look like a gaping mouth. If the river in The Devil's Throut carries something insde, it will never be retrieved. Some years ago, the rising river carried away 500 kilograms of wood and not a single whittle was discovered. When making research, cave specialists poured colorful water along the stream, which went out after 2 hours.

Yagodina cave

“Yagodina” Cave is located in the Buynovo Gorge near the Rhodope village of Yagodina. It is one of the most famous and most visited caves in Bulgaria. Its galleries extend to a length of 8, 501 meters, which makes it the 4th longest cave in Bulgaria and the longest in the Rhodopes. The temperature in the cave is between 6 and 8 degrees C all year round, and it has a humidity of more than 90% (as do most caves).

Mount Perelik and "The house of bears"


Mount Perelik and "The house of bears"

Golyam Perelik (2191 m) is the highest peak in the Rhodope Mountains. The array is covered with juniper bushes and low spruces. The foot of the peak can be reached from the chalet Perelik for about 1 hour. There is a chapel "St. Kirik and Julita" built by the military at "Churika" meadow close to the peak.
